All Saints’ Day
On Tuesday, November 1st, the Church celebrates the Solemnity of All Saints. It is a day for us to celebrate the
Women and Men who live with Our Lord in the Kingdom of Heaven. Their number is countless but we
are blessed to know some of them by name along with the account of their lives. This Feast Day gives us hope and spurs us on to be faithful to Our Lord until the end. All Saints’ Day is one of our Holy Days with obligation.
Masses will be offered in our Parish at 7:30 am, 12:00 pm and 7:00 pm. Please come and participate at Mass on this uniquely Catholic day!

All Souls’ Day & The Month of All Souls
In the Church, the month of November is the month dedicated to the Holy Souls in Purgatory. We begin this annual commemoration with All Souls’ Day on November 2nd. As the earth dies and prepares for Winter and the days of the year trickle down, we turn our thoughts to the last things, the day we will be called home by the Lord. We also remember those who have died in the last year and all our Loved Ones who have gone before us. So, what is the Church’s teaching about this month and who are these souls in Purgatory? Simply put, the Church teaches that the souls who die and are not ready to enter the fullness of Eternal Life, spend time being purified in Purgatory. Some people ask, is Purgatory an actual place? The Church has never defined whether or not Purgatory is a place or a space but does teach that it is a time where the soul undergoes purification before entering into to the glory of Heaven.
This year, the Feast of All Souls falls on Wednesday, November 2nd. It is our Catholic tradition, that this is a day to come to church and pray for our deceased Loved Ones, that they may have the fullness of Eternal Life. Masses will be offered at 7:30 am, 12:00 pm and 7:00 pm. It is also a day to visit, if possible, the graves of our family members and leave flowers, to light a candle and say a prayer for the happy repose of their souls. I hope you will take the time to remember your Loved Ones during this monthlong remembrance of the Faithful Departed. Eternal rest Grant unto them O Lord….
